Under the weather...

Hi! Yours truly is truly unwell. The weather is truly muggy that I’m feeling truly lethargic. Beware of the H1Z5 virus, folks! Do drink more water, and do put on a mask when you step out. *cough* Excuse me, I need to get a sip now. The throat is truly dry. Till then… take care.

It's hazy, and it IS haze!

Dear Diary,

School is closed. For a week. Due to the A(H1N1) virus scare. Well, I’m not complaining. *woof woof* The weather is chocking me though. The haze is back, in my humble opinion, though the director-general of the DOE opined otherwise. And this fler (Pawing forbids me from visiting his blog, but I took a peep the other day… shhh… please don’t tell her, or else, I’ll be deprived of my luxury) couldn’t be more cynical. *woof woof* Just a look at my photo and you’ll know how hazy it is. !!!

Two lil' birdies

Another day, a new beginning,

Melodiously, little birdies are chirping,

Love and comfort, they are awaiting,

Papa and food, they are anticipating.

Papa returns without bearing any food,

Disappointed, they try to be good.

Lovely melody imbued with love so strong,

They serenade Papa all day long.

Night falls, Papa is nowhere in sight,

Forlorn lil’ birdies are, under the moonlight,

Descends, a mood of melancholy,

Missing him, they launch into a melody.

Soon after, Mister Moon goes into hiding,

And Papa bounces back a-chirping,

“One wormie for you, and another for you”

Joyfully, they bid sadness ‘adieu’.

This poem is dedicated to all fathers and fathers-to-be out there, especially my father whom I call ‘Papa’.

My daddy's paw

Hi! Tomorrow is Father’s Day. When Pawing and her siblings are celebrating the occasion together with their beloved father, I’ll be left alone to mourn my fate. Truth be told, I have never felt abandoned for Pawing and her family love me and treat me just like one of them, but I can’t live in denial, can I? Whatever it is, I’m not one of their kind. I do miss my parents. Mom bequeathed to me a picture of herself. As for Dad, I can only gaze longingly at this picture of his paw. That’s all that he’s left for me, dear old daddy. And it’ll remain my keepsake forever and ever. Dad, wherever you are, I love you. Happy Dad’s Day, Dad!

p/s Oh ya, Pawing will be taking over tomorrow. I’m taking a break to reminisce… to remember all the good times I had with my parents, to remember those unforgettable days, to wish I could turn back the clock…

Time for some pampering

Hi! Post bathing time is my favourite time. It’s when Pawing’s mom will patiently dry my hair with the hair-dryer which I can call my own. I have my own comb too. I truly enjoy the manicure/pedicure session after that. Sounds luxurious eh? I’ll appear very neat and more handsome thereafter, and that makes me feel superior so much so that Pawing and her sis often call me ‘Popeye’. Initially I was confused. I thought I was Billy. Why did they call me with a different name? Much later, I learnt that it’s actually ‘Pa pai’ (Cantonese for ‘proud’). Hmmm…. oh, well.

Dear Diary,

I haven’t been pawing here for I’ve been so busy pawing at Pawing and the rest of the family. Making them feel loved constantly and making them laugh at my antics have taken up most of my time. And at the end of the day, I’m dead tired. This picture is worth a zillion words.

Me after bathing

Hi! I love bathing a lot. Only Pawing’s mom has the patience to give me a good bath. I have my own tub and shampoo (will show them to you in due course). The bathroom where I’m given my bath is off limit, hence, you won’t get to see me in all my nakedness. Though I’m a doggie, I do know what ‘kian siao’ means.

The many faces of Bob

Hi! This is another pal of mine. His name is Bob. He came to live with Pawing much earlier than me. Pawing mentioned that he was probably a stray dog, and when he first arrived, he had a limb injury. Pawing’s sis has a particular fondness for Bob. He’ll bark happily upon hearing the sound of her car as it nears the junction to our house every day. That’s loyalty, according to Pawing’s dad, and they always tease me : Billy is disloyal. Kononnya lah.

Hi! We celebrated Pawing’s Papa’s birthday recently. We had an almond cake Pawing’s sister baked. I’m not a nutty person, so I didn’t even look at it let alone paw at it. But there was satay which I had about 2 sticks (see how a miser Pawing was… shh) and some chicken supreme pizza (minus the pineapple cubes). As for the chicken masala pizza, there was this very Indianish smell about it (not that I have anything against Indians) which my sensitive nose abhors and my sensitive tummy rejects. Anyway, it was a simple, but splendid celebration with so much love in the air. I enjoyed every moment of it. I don’t know when my birthday is, you see. Neither does Pawing. She often jokes that the birthday of any one in the family is my birthday, so I suppose I can say we celebrated my birthday too (that makes 6 birthdays altogether in a year!).

Yesterday once more

Hi! Higgins once told me that absence makes the heart grow fonder. So did you miss me? No posts from me for the past 5 days. Well, I took a 5-day sabbath to reflect on life, and to ponder over questions such as who I am, what the purpose of living is, etc. etc. You see the picture above? That’s me when I first came to live with Pawing and her family. But like Sean Connery and Michael Caine, I do look better as I age. Agree? But then, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and it matters not how I look as long as I have a heart of gold. I want to believe that I do. And it matters more that Pawing and her family love me. I know they do. And I love them too.
